Arrival in Belgrade according to your own flight schedule.
Meet-and-greet at the airport and included transfer to our hotel of choice in central Belgrade.

DAY 2 - AUGUST 26 - art nouveau and avant-garde
Meeting with our local guide and full day entirely devoted to early 20th-century architecture in Belgrade, from Art Nouveau and the avant-garde to the beginnings of Yugoslav modernism.
Return to hotel in the late afternoon for the first lecture on architectural photography.
Overnight in Belgrade.
DAY 3 - AUGUST 27 - concrete and might
A second day in Belgrade focusing on the socialist period of the former Yugoslavia: imposing memorials, futuristic spomenici (partisan monuments), brutalist architecture, modernist mosaics, and a skyline of concrete might.
Return to hotel in the late afternoon and lecture on socialist architecture of the second half of the twentieth century.
Overnight in Belgrade.
DAY 4 - AUGUST 28 - novi sad and vojvodina
Excursion to Novi Sad, capital of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, one of the most ethnically, religiously and linguistically diverse regions in Europe, being inhabited by some twenty-five different indigenous nationalities.
Novi Sad is also home to some wonderful examples of early Yugoslav modernism, and the scenic road linking it to Belgrade passes by the world-famous Fruška Gora, a national park that is home to both the majestic Sloboda Spomenik, a colossal memorial honoring partisans and citizens who fell during the struggle against Nazi-Fascism, and Iriški Venac, the brutalist television tower that was badly damaged during the 1999 bombing campaign.
Overnight in Belgrade.
DAY 5 - AUGUST 29 - DEEP YUGOSLAVIA
From Belgrade we travel south through the Yugoslav countryside.
First stop on our Serbian odyssey will be the modernist Avala Tower and the nearby spomenik dedicated to Soviet veterans, as well as the Art Nouveau monument to the unknown soldier.
Moving further south, we will visit the Kosmaj Spomenik, a giant concrete star erected to commemorate the local partisan regiment. We will then head to Kragujevac to pay tribute to the Interrupted Flight Spomenik, dedicated to the hundreds of women, elderly and children killed by German soldiers.
After lunch we will stop in Čačak to visit the Victory Spomenik, built to pay tribute to the partisans who fell during the liberation of Čačak, and the Courage Spomenik, a 10-meter-high poured concrete stalagmite with a steel frame and aluminum panels.
Arrival at the hotel in the late afternoon and lecture on the architecture of Yugoslav spomenici.
Overnight in Čačak.
DAY 6 - AUGUST 30 - PARTISAN REPUBLICS
City tour of Užice, home to some amazing brutalist architecture from the Yugoslav period, and visit to the spomenici in Kadinjača and Šumatno, erected in memory of the brief but heroic history of the Užice Partisan Republic.
Return to Belgrade in the afternoon with brief stops in the archetypal socialist towns of Valjevo and Ub.
Arrival in Belgrade in the evening, concluding dinner in the company of Roberto Conte and night photo excursion.
